my new (university-assigned) roommate is fresh off the plane and still jetlagged from italy. he says he learned english by downloading entire episodes of futurama and the simpsons from file-sharing networks. a few hours later, i realized he didn't know what bagels were, but when i showed him one he said "hmmm, donuts!"
